The first of three of Brent A’s 3000t jacket frame sections being rolled up to vertical at the Redpath Dorman Long yard in Methil.
This was the largest structure lifted by any fabricator. At the centre are the two 110m trestle towers that carried the two pairs of lifting cables.
Once vertical, the three frames were connected together by cross members.
Before the Brent pipeline was laid, the oil was stored in a spar tethered to the seabed and exported into tanker.
